Embarc Chicago Partners with Canada’s Students on Ice

Cooperative Philanthropy breaks down the silos in philanthropy by  providing connections and platforms for nonprofits to collaborate for greater impact.  Embarc is one example of the many organizations supported by Uncharted.  Kesia, pictured above, is an Embarc student who traveled to the Arctic with Canadian youth organization, Students on Ice.

How many people do you know have traveled to the Arctic?  Count Kesia as one of one them.  She went on the ultimate journey to explore the polar region of Canada!  Sure, Kesia had the opportunity to see things we only dream about, like polar bears and narwhals in the wild.  What she found most rewarding, however, was meeting native people from vastly different backgrounds from herself. -Imran Khan, CEO & Co-founder of Embarc

Below is how Kesia described the experience.

Uncharted cares deeply about strengthening Chicago, and that begins with empowering Chicago’s youth, regardless of what neighborhood they call home. Embarc Chicago shares these beliefs, and that is why Uncharted is proud to support Embarc as it continues to grow in our hometown.

Embarc is a three-year program that provides community-driven, experience-based learning opportunities to low-income high school students to inspire and prepare them for college and career success.

Vicki has served on Embarc’s Advisory Board since 2012, and for the second year in a row Uncharted sponsored two Embarc students to join the Students on Ice summer 2018 Arctic expedition.
